Foothill DECA Students Compete at Career Development Conference

Foothill High School DECA students competed at the International Career Development Conference (ICDC) last week. Nearly 22,000 high school students, teachers, advisors, business professionals, and alumni from all around the world, representing the United States, Canada,China, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Guam, Japan, Germany, Spain, and Turkey gathered in Orlando, home to Disneyworld, last week for several days of intense competition, and networking.

ICDC is the end goal for any DECA member. DECA members demonstrated their college and career-technical skills by participating in DECA’s industry-validated competitive events program, aligned with career clusters, national curriculum standards and 21st Century skills in the areas of marketing, finance, hospitality, management, and other business fields. Foothill DECA members who moved onto this competition had competed previously at the district and state level, guaranteeing that the competitors at ICDC were truly the best of the best. Jacob Bolano, Foothill DECA’s Vice President of Chapter Management stated that he, “had an amazing time at ICDC,” and his time was filled with, “competing, networking, meeting new people, and working hard to reach top ten in the event.”
