Del Valle High Marks Holiday with a Turkey Feast

While most of the country has already taken down Thanksgiving decorations to make way for winter holiday decorations, the students, staff, and community of Del Valle Continuation High School extended the fall holiday nearly into December to enjoy their 14th Annual Turkey Feast. Provided by Del Valle’s Culinary Arts Academy students, this year’s festivities had to be delayed due to the poor air quality throughout Livermore. Students cheerfully serving turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, cranberry relish, macaroni and cheese, salad, rolls, and warm apple crisp.

Del Valley’s Turkey Feast originally began as a way for the staff to celebrate Thanksgiving together as a school community, and to provide a full-fledged feast to their students. Since then, the event has evolved into a largely student-led occasion, with the school’s Culinary Arts Academy – through the leadership and coordination of Culinary Arts instructor Dianne Russell – preparing and serving the delectable dishes.
