The City of Pleasanton and Bike East Bay are partnering to provide bicycle safety instruction to Tri-Valley residents starting with a two-day Urban Cycling 101 series geared toward adults and teens. The first classroom session teaches basic rules of the road, how to equip your bicycle, and fit your helmet. The second session takes place on the road to improve handling skills, crash avoidance, and riding with confidence. A family cycling workshop, geared towards children in grades 2-6, will consist of fun games, drills, and skill building. Parents must attend the family workshop with their children.
The free bicycle safety workshops will be held on the following dates: March 16 – Urban Cycling 101: Day 1 Classroom Workshop, Amador Recreation Center, 4455 Black Avenue; March 23 – Family Cycling Workshop, Hart Middle School, 4433 Willow Road (basketball courts/blacktop); April 13 – Urban Cycling 101: Day 2 On-Road Workshop, Hart Middle School, 4433 Willow Road (basketball courts/blacktop)
