Assemblymember Catharine Baker has announced a list of endorsers that include Supervisor Scott Haggerty. Baker told The Independent that she is especially proud of Haggerty’s endorsement, because it is the first time that he has endorsed her. Haggerty is quoted in a Baker news release as saying, “As our Assemblywoman, Catharine has put partisanship aside time and time again to deliver effective transportation solutions for our region. Her continued leadership is needed, and I endorse her for re-election.” Baker is a Republican who is running against Democrat Rebecca Bauer-Kahan. Haggerty was a registered Republican when he first was elected supervisor in 1996, but switched to Democratic affiliation in 2009. The supervisorial offices are non-partisan. Haggerty and Baker are Dublin residents. Other area elected officeholders endorsing Baker are Livermore Mayor John Marchand, Pleasanton Mayor Jerry Thorne, and Dublin Mayor David Haubert. The Livermore and Pleasanton city councils also have endorsed her. In Dublin, Baker is endorsed by Councilmembers Abe Gupta, Arun Goel, and Janine Thalblum.
